BABB Day 20 - Create Strong Passwords
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
From the Becoming a Better Blogger Series:
Create strong, alpha-neumeric passwords for all your accounts. If any of your blogging related passwords are single, Dictionary words or letters only, it would be quite easy for a determined hacker to break into one of your accounts. Set aside this day to strengthen your passwords by using combinations of letters, numbers and punctuation that exceed 8 characters in length. Make sure to keep your new passwords written down somewhere in a safe place (and write them down carefully).
Most of the passwords I use are created using my very complex random password generator system. I simple open up a magazine, newspaper, or whatever book I have in front of me, flip to random page and then write down the first letter in each word of a sentence. I place a number somewhere in the mix and voila, you get a strong password. I keep a little black book (literally) of passwords and a spreadsheet backed up on my home server. Lest you think I play willy nilly with the black book I only use abbreviations for account names in case it is lost or stolen.
