As part of my quest to bring some balance to my work and family life, I’ve set a goal of reading a book a week. I have a combination of business and parenting books on my list of things to read. As I read them, I will add some notes to what I thought. Here they are in no particular order:
- The E Myth Revisted
- So Sexy, So Soon – Everyone knows that sex sells in advertising, but at what cost to our kids? This book explores how media is using sexy images to sell all kinds of products to our kids. It is creating girls that judge their worth on how they look and boys that see women as objects. This book is one of the reasons the tv is shut off at my house, I prescreen most of what my daughter views, and we have very few character based items. Yep, I’m one of those parents, but I’m okay with that. I’m giving my daughter a childhood in which she is free to explore, imagine and play. This is a very eye opening book. February 2011.
- Buddhism for Mothers
- Think Big: Make it Happen in Business and Life
- Attention! This Book Will Make You Money
- Raising Your Spirited Child
- Sleepless in America
- Getting Things Done: the Art of Stress-Free Productivity
- SHED Your Stuff, Change Your Life: A Four Step Guide to Getting Unstuck
- School as a Journey: The Eight Year Odyssey of a Waldorf Teacher and His Class
- How to Turn Traffic and Trust Into Sales
- Trust Agents
This list will get me through a few months. I’ll add to it as I find new titles to read. What’s on your reading list?
